handmade.

I was digging around in my shelf at home, and found this fluffy old thing. I knitted it in Year 6, when I was eleven, as a personal choice school assignment (we got to choose something to do). I mean, the yarn looked really nice when i bought it, but once it was knitted into a scarf (which was the only thing I could make, and took an aeon because i'd only just learnt how tp knit, and at one stage I dropped six stitches), the colour turned out weird. If you can't tell from the picture, it's just little splotches of pastel colour. I haven't used it yet; it's only a metre and ten centimetres long (which is about three and a half feet). I've been meaning to extend it half a metre, because I have extra yarn. What do you think of it?

Yes, it's shiny :D And those are my bedcovers, very boring.

have fun!

knitpicker

hello all! I havent been dead, i've been knitting and knitting and writing crappy stories. :D sorry.
but on the bright side, i have some patterns for those knitters out there to use! some of these will need circular needles, some of them not. also, a great tofu-shaped pincushion which i am currently making myself :D

http://knitting.about.com/od/mittenpatterns/p/fingerless.htm: this is a great one, fingerless mittens knitted with circular needles.

http://thecraptastictruth.blogspot.com/2008/03/little-black-handbag.html: a cute, durable black clutch (i think it's a clutch?). you can knit it it with one strand of yarn, or two.

http://knitting.about.com/od/knittingpatterns/ig/Easy-Knitting-Patterns/easy_wrap.htm: like a shawl/wrap thingg... includes increasing and decreasing stitches, so better learn that :D

http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2006/06/15/tofu-for-you/: this is the very cool tofu pincushion, which even has a little face on it! you can make it whatever expression you like, and it's very easy to make.

http://www.lincraft.com.au/view_project.php?id=251: a pretty bolero knitted with bamboo yarn, for beginners (or so they say).

http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/patterns/alluring_halter_top.php: halter top :D is cool looking.

have fun knitting, and i will post a picture of my finished tofu pincushion, complete with weird expression, as soon as i finish it! :D oh, and maybe i'll try making those fingerless gloves too.

edit: hey look! what on earth are these? well, they're websites that i found really helpful for expanding my knowledge of knitting. they'll get you started; i suggest you roam around the net for some cool stitches, like moss stitch, and pretty techniques like cabling.

http://www.theyarnco.com/instruction.php: all the basics are here :)

The Sun & The Earth

There's something so organic, whimsical and beautiful about Rodarte. Reminds me of being a kid and running around outside with not a care in the world.

  • Chain neclace with black fringe
  • Chainmail bag with chains
  • I found this amazing vintage black dress with a low cut back drapped in delicate chains on some website but I didn't save it and am kicking myself cause I cant remember where it was!
  • In an unrelated matter, there is so much beautiful knitwear out there atm (rodarte, missoni etc) I really want to learn how to knit.

discofever & funnywords

As much as I love Erin, I must say, even she cannot pull of this:

To me looks a bit costum-ey and does anyone else think Christophe Decarnin has used the exact same sillouettes two seasons in a row? What did you guys think of Balmain?

On a side note, the word verifications for blogger.com are very amusing.

funky you say?

waiter: so you would like your ritsuko shirahama to be served "funky", with a side of vegetables?

chip off the old block.

As Helen has told you, we are now on hols! So I went shopping yesterday with some friends, and I got this awesome 4-in-1 nail block from The Body Shop. It has four numbered sides, each with a different function; one for filing, one for removing ridges in the nail, one for smoothing and one for shining the nail. And I must say, my nails are very shiny now. I think it looks different in the US, but here in Australia ours looks like this:

It completely smoothes out the nail surface, as well as leaving it mirror-shiny!

Oh, and I also got this baker boy hat:

Possibly the only non-trucker/baseball cap I look good in *is in love with these items*. And can you believe the hat only cost $2.50 AUD? Wow.

Anyway, have fun!

Anticlimax.

Well its finnaaalllly the holidays so expect more posting in the next two weeks. I was reading back through the archives (that is how much spare time i have now...mwahahahah) and noticed I have yet to comment on Alex Wangs fall collection and I have to say ALEX, YOU HAVE DISAPOINTED ME. Yes, you have let me down. What happened to the good old days? HUH? (ie Fall '08). WHYYYYYY!

Fall 08

Fall 09

I mean, I dont see much of what I liked about Alexander Wang in the first place in his most recent collection. Sure there were a couple of nice dresses, but nothing that really stood out to me. He focussed a lot on cutouts, like sooo many other designers and there wasnt that sort of street influence that came out in his previous collections. Basically, if I hadnt been told it was Wang I wouldn't have known. It wasnt terrible, but could've been so much better

*sad face*
